Guess what! I was accepted into the AQHA Young Horse Development Program for 2019!!!
I am so excited!
I received my filly, BCreek Dixie Acre, from Bee Creek Quarter Horses last Saturday 11/3. She’s about 12.1 hands as of right now. She’s a beautiful dun, dorsal stripe and black points to complete it. Right now, coming from the north, she’s already got her full woolly mammoth coat on.
On my vlogs, which are not yet uploaded, I talk about our first two nights together. Spoiler: she’s a little Houdini.
Dixie has Doc Bar in her blood lines, and her dam and sire were both successful roping/cutting horses, respectively.
I have to keep up with a lot of assignments being in YHD, but I think that will make it all the more fun! I’ve never trained or worked with a foal, but I am extremely excited to see how it goes. She did not have hardly any halter training, so that’s been the focus of our work right now. My boyfriend did help me pick up her hooves, which she is not bad about! A little stubborn, but what girl isn’t?
I want to keep these posts relatively short, so you can watch my vlogs about us! I’m going to get working on those and I’ll post the links soon!!
Have any tips/tricks for training foals? Please drop them in the comments.
